Sinopsis / Synopsis

Wind Has No Tail, secara observasional merekam keluarga nomaden Nenets. Nika, salah satu anak dalam keluarga ini, akan dikirim ke sekolah modern, meski berarti harus berpisah dari keluarga dan cara hidup tradisionalnya. Film ini menghadirkan keseharian mereka sebelum keberangkatan Nika: berburu dan memakan rusa mentah, anak-anak bermain di padang rumput, bentuk sekolah tradisional, kegiatan di rumah, mendongeng sebelum tidur, hingga lanskap-lanskap alam.

Wind Has No Tail, observantly records a nomadic Nenets family. Nika, one of the children in the family, is about to be sent to a modern school, even though it means being separated from her family and traditional way of life. The film captures their daily life before Nika’s departure: hunting and eating raw reindeer, children playing in the pastures, their traditional form of schooling, activities at home, storytelling before bed, and the natural landscapes.

Director’s Biography / Biografi Sutradara

Ivan VLASOV lahir dan besar di Tula. Ia belajar di VGIK di bengkel S.V. Miroshnichenko. Karya-karyanya telah memenangkan penghargaan di festival-festival Rusia: “Flahertiana”, “Salt of the Earth”, “Cinema of the Future”, “Message to Man”. Ia juga menerima Penghargaan Laurel Branch dalam kategori Cinema of the Future.

Nikita Stashkevich belajar sejak tahun 2017 di Institut Film dan Televisi Negara St. Petersburg. Dari tahun 2018 hingga 2023, ia belajar di VGIK, di bengkel S.V. Miroshnichenko. Pada tahun 2021, ia menerima penghargaan Laurel Branch untuk debut terbaik.

Ivan VLASOV was born and raised in Tula. Studied at VGIK in the workshop of S.V. Miroshnichenko. His works have won prizes at Russian festivals: “Flahertiana”, “Salt of the Earth”, “Cinema of the Future”, “Message to Man”. Awarded the Laurel Branch Prize in the Cinema of the Future category.

Nikita Stashkevich studied since 2017, has studied at the St. Petersburg State Institute of Cinema and Television. From 2018 to 2023, he studied at VGIK, in the workshop of S.V. Miroshnichenko. In 2021, he was awarded the Laurel Branch award for best debut.
