ARKIPEL Membuka Ruang Sinema, Resistensi, dan Ingatan

Jakarta, 4 September — Opening Ceremony ARKIPEL tahun ini berlangsung pada 4 September pukul 19.10 WIB. Malam yang hangat dan dekat menjadi ruang pertemuan bagi para pegiat film, seniman, komunitas, dan penonton untuk bersama-sama membuka rangkaian festival yang diselenggarakan oleh Forum Lenteng.

Acara dibuka oleh Luthfan Nur Rochman, selaku Direktur ARKIPEL The Damned of the Earth – 13th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival, yang menyampaikan sambutan pembukaan. Dalam sambutannya, ia menggarisbawahi perjalanan ARKIPEL sejak 2013 serta keterkaitan festival dengan berbagai persoalan sejarah dan politik, termasuk pengalaman Orde Baru, necropolitics, perlawanan, dan kolonialisme.
Semangat tersebut, menurut Luthfan, menjadi bagian dari upaya ARKIPEL untuk terus menghadirkan ruang bagi gagasan dan praktik sinema yang kritis. Festival juga menjadi momentum untuk mempertemukan berbagai pihak yang memiliki perhatian terhadap film, seni, serta persoalan sosial dan politik.
Hafiz Rancajale, selaku direktur artistik ARKIPEL memberikan sambutan selamat datang dan diakhiri dengan doa bersama kepada sosok penting dalam dunia perfileman, Yuki Aditya yang telah berpulang. Kehadiran para seniman, pekerja filem, dan peserta festival memperlihatkan semangat kebersamaan yang menjadi salah satu karakter ARKIPEL. Forum Lenteng menjadi ruang berkumpul dan bertemunya berbagai gagasan melalui festival.
Salah satu bagian penting dalam pembukaan adalah ajakan untuk menonton bersama. Setelah sambutan pembukaan, rangkaian acara dilanjutkan dengan pemutaran filem-filem terpilih sebagai penanda dimulainya program festival.

Suasana opening ceremony berlangsung dalam atmosfer yang hangat, ramai dan penuh antusiasme. Para peserta berkumpul untuk mengikuti pembukaan sekaligus menyaksikan filem yang menjadi bagian dari program ARKIPEL. Pertemuan antara pembuat fielm, seniman, komunitas, dan penonton membuat acara terasa seperti ruang bersama untuk bertukar gagasan melalui sinema. ARKIPEL tahun ini menayangkan sekitar 40-an filem dan berlangsung hingga 13 September 2026. Data tersebut menjadi bagian penting dalam melihat skala penyelenggaraan festival tahun ini, yang kembali mempertemukan filem-filem dengan berbagai isu sosial, politik, sejarah, dan kebudayaan.
Jakarta, September 4 — This year’s ARKIPEL Opening Ceremony took place on September 4 at 7:10 PM WIB. The warm and intimate evening provided a space for filmmakers, artists, communities, and audiences to come together and officially open the festival organized by Forum Lenteng.
The event opened with a speech by Luthfan Nur Rochman, Director of ARKIPEL The Damned of the Earth – 13th Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival. In his remarks, he highlighted ARKIPEL’s journey since 2013 and the festival’s engagement with various historical and political issues, including experiences under the New Order regime, necropolitics, resistance, and colonialism.
According to Luthfan, this spirit forms part of ARKIPEL’s ongoing effort to create a space for critical cinematic ideas and practices. The festival also serves as a moment to bring together people who share an interest in film, art, as well as social and political issues.
Hafiz Rancajale, ARKIPEL’s Artistic Director, then delivered a welcoming speech, which concluded with a collective prayer for Yuki Aditya, an important figure in the Indonesian film community who recently passed away. The presence of artists, film workers, and festival participants reflected the sense of togetherness that has become one of ARKIPEL’s defining characteristics. Forum Lenteng continues to serve as a meeting point where diverse ideas come together through the festival.
One of the key moments of the opening was an invitation to watch films together. Following the opening remarks, the event continued with a communal film screening, marking the beginning of the festival’s program.
